|A Red Sun Rises by Katzilla||19 Review(s)|

Oh, my, goodness! It is still getting darker and darker in the Mark. Hurry, Gandalf and Three Hunters! But not too fast, I am enjoying every word of the plight you have written our heroes into.
Author Reply: LOL, then I am pleased to tell you that the Three Hunters and especially Gandalf will take a long time to appear... This is heading for AU-land and will eventually merge with "Untold Tales of the Mark: The Banishment of Éomer", which I'm currently rewriting, to fit the two pieces together. :-)

Thank you again for this brilliantly written story. Gap fillers are the best! I especially enjoyed your reference to Hasufel in this chapter. Details like that show your careful attention to canon and willingness to bring life to all that Tolkien hints at.
Author Reply: Hi Noruinivel,
thank you for commenting! I'm glad to read you like my story. It is great fun for me, as well, to use all the little references. I had a ball bringing this part of the story to life. The only question I ask myself again and again is: Why did it take so long for this particular plot bunny to bite me? ;-)

Oh, excellent job setting up the pieces on the board! The characters are clearly drawn, and the interactions and relationships are well-sketched. There is just enough description to establish the background and setting and help the reader to immerse the self within the scene. The political situation is believable and rings true to the original. Nicely done!
Looking forward to reading more.
Author Reply: Hi Lindelea,
Thank you for the comment! In hindsight, and as a big fan of the people of Rohan, I cannot understand why it took so long for this particular plot bunny to bite me. I always found the political situation in the Mark in the years of the Ring War a fascinating playground to write, and I'm a bit sad that it is so rarely used.

Oh, my! Another story added to my current reading list... (this is not a real review, but a placeholder of some sorts, as I will start reviewing with Chapter 1 on my lunch break, if all goes well today...)
Looking forward to the reading.
Author Reply: Hello Lindelea,
thanks for your comment! I hope you will enjoy reading this little tale of epic woe.
Happy easter, and I look foward to hearing from you.

Is it not always darkest before the dawn! A tense chapter, perhaps even more so than the full-out battle scenes! That seems very much as it must have been between Eowyn, the King and their "Worm". Could that fever have been a result of withdrawal from whatever he had been giving Theoden? Hmm. Now we shall see if you go with book verse and have Eomer and company arrive to be imprisoned, or movie and have them arrive after the three plus Gandalf? I will be anxiously watching!
Author Reply: Hi Demeter,
thanks a lot for commenting! Yes, they do say that... but let me assure you that regarding darkness in this story, you have seen nothing yet! I'm glad to read that you think this in tune with what was only communicated between the lines in both the books and the movies. I definitely think that Gríma built such a dependency into his potions to make sure that they could not simply throw him out. I really leave to write this game of cat and mouse between him and Éowyn (whatever that says about me ;-)).

Can't believe Gamling considers accusations are true. Eowyn was really happy he could save her. It is difficult to imagine how weak King's power had to be that someone dared to attack his niece.
Author Reply: I hope I made clear how hard it is for Gamling to decide what the truth is. He doesn't want to believe the accusations, but Gríma hardly leaves him a chance to see things differently (the despicable Worm! Curse him)! Scary times in Edoras for sure. Thanks for reviewing! :-)
